Finalists for the city manager job will visit Portland as soon as April 7, according to a search committee hired to oversee the hiring process.

More than 60 people have applied for the city’s top hired position as of the Feb. 16 deadline. That number could increase, as search firm Baker Tilly allowed a few extra days for additional candidates to apply.

The firm will whittle that down to 10-15 semifinalists, which will be presented to the city manager search subcommittee on March 6. Once the subcommittee receives that semifinalist report, they will review materials and meet again on March 16 to determine finalists. The position is considered open until filled, meaning they could re-post the job.

The date for visits could get bumped to April 14-15. Both Friday and Saturday dates would include a tour of the city, interviews with city staff and the City Council, and a public forum at City Hall.

Applicants for the municipal jobs are confidential until they are hired.
