City manager panel will hold public listening sessions

The city manager search subcommittee will host two “listening sessions” this month as opportunities for the public to weigh in and ask questions about the search process.

The two sessions will take place via Zoom on March 22 at 7 p.m. and March 29 at 5 p.m. Mayor Kate Snyder, who chairs the subcommittee, said these sessions will be similar to her recurring monthly Zoom meetings, which are question and answer sessions for the public.

The meetings follow a March 16 executive session planned by the subcommittee, where they narrow down semifinalists for the open city manager position. The city’s search firm Baker Tilly received 77 applications for the position, and will narrow that list down to 10-15 names before selecting a handful of finalists.

Final candidates will visit Portland April 14 and 15 for a series of tours, interviews, meet and greets and a public forum.
