One Portland Public Schools student was hospitalized Tuesday morning after a tractor trailer crashed into a school bus on Washington Avenue.
According to a release from the Portland Police Department, a school bus was hit by a tractor from behind when the tractor failed to stop. One student was transported to Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
When the crash occurred just before 8 a.m., there were 15 students and one driver onboard the bus. The crash happened at the intersection of Washington and Allen avenues, with the bus stopped in the left-turning lane.
The accident is still under investigation, and the driver of the tractor trailer has not been cited.
