Thank you for the Phoenix, I make a point of picking it up and reading it every week. While I subscribe to the Press Herald and Sunday Telegram, your weekly often has other news or more in-depth coverage of select Portland issues.
However, today I am writing in praise of your columnists.
I particularly enjoy reading “Leftovers” by Natalie Ladd. Her recent column on the Jewish holiday of Purim, noting the two heroines, and relevance to the situation for women in today’s Iran was both timely and excellent. Likewise the “Leftovers” column, “Back to Birmingham” published in proximity to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
With many changes and challenges in local journalism, I trust that the Portland Phoenix will maintain its qualities and survive.
