Rivalries, a popular restaurant and sports bar with two locations, has closed their Portland outpost.

Lance and Amy Meader, who own the business, announced via social media last week they had sold the two-level Cotton Street location but will continue to focus on the Falmouth location off Clearwater Drive.

It was just the space in Portland that was sold, and not the franchise or name of the business.

In their post, the Meaders praised what they had created for more than two decades, saying the business was more than a sports bar, and served as a location for events like weddings, graduation parties and banquets.

A gastropub called Thistle & Grouse, helmed by chef Bobby Will, plans to open in the Cotton Street space in June or July, the Portland Press Herald reported. Will is the chef and owner of the seasonal fine dining restaurant Salt & Steel in Bar Harbor.
