He said what?! Picking quotes from Trump and LePage

When a leader is considered “quotable,” it’s typically a praise, but not if you’re President Donald Trump or Governor Paul LePage. Last year those in the media had a plethora of controversial soundbites to publish and initiate the next wave of controversy. But it must be asked, what good comes from publishing their nasty remarks or, often times, factually untrue generalizations?

I’ll admit, not much. But, there is some value in revisiting Trump and LePage’s vitriolic highlights. For starters, it reinforces ideas on how a leader shouldn’t act; it's a small way people in the press like to believe they're "holding them accountable," by making a fuss every time a racist remark spills out during a campaign speech, for example. It proves that bullies can easily rise to the top. And perhaps more importantly, it illustrates (especially if you read comments to the quotes online) that thousands of their supporters share similar, if not more bigoted opinions, and remind us that there’s an ever-deepening cultural, moral and ethical divide in America.

Mentally exhausting work may lie ahead, but first, a game of “Who Said That?” Was it the Donald, or the Guv?
