Portland police charged a man with criminal mischief after he allegedly vandalized two storefronts on Congress Street last week.

Police said Michael Hale, 50, of Portland was charged with two counts of criminal mischief after he allegedly threw an object through the windows of Reny’s at 540 Congress St. on Oct. 15, and then broke windows at the Flea For All store at 585 Congress St. the next day.

Police are still investigating other incidents on Wharf Street that are not believed to be related.

On Oct. 16 a burglary was reported at 49 Wharf St., where the windows at the Jefe Juan bar were broken, extensive damage was reported, and items were reported missing. During that investigation, police also discovered broken windows at another business, Rathskeller on Wharf.
