Edgar Allen Beem’s latest column (“The Universal Notebook: Nurses United,” Feb. 10) is spot on. Maine Medical Center should not be calling in union-busters to pressure hard-working nurses not to unionize.
When workers want to unionize, they generally have a pretty good reason to want a union. And nurses are most definitely workers. They have more than enough to do, especially now, without having to sit through time-wasting anti-union “training” sessions.
To add insult to injury, this union-busting team is from Florida, and just for trooping all the way up here to pester the MMC nurses, the union-busters were rewarded by being given vaccines intended for Maine residents.
